It’s funny when a project sounds much more complicated than it actually is. Or maybe it’s just my luck to have it not turn out as difficult as it sounded. Nevertheless, my current assignment, a design project for a college department, is turning out to have a different kind of challenge. There are a lot more subtle messages that I have to deliver visually. The behavior of the target market is a bit obscure; we are supposed to see how they will react to the website. Usually, it’s me making them react and fall in love with the products/service in the website. Now I have sit back and watch. Hmm. The website has a lot of charts that have to be managed to look friendly and approachable by laymen. No. Students. College students who have the span of attention like a fruit fly’s. Okay, maybe not so bad. There needs to be subtle peer-pressure or a competitive feel among the students, too. I delivered it, but the client changed their mind; no peer pressure. Ah, too bad.
Now I wish I had finished reading the iOS Human Interface Guidelines that professor Andrew sent me when we were working on an iPad app project. I’m pretty sure the knowledge will help somewhat in the making of the interface. Okay! I’ll do it today! Besides, I need to finish reading it before my next mobile app project anyway.
